Continuous Data Protection And Backup Are Preventive Means Of Data Loss
(1 vote)
Read more...Continuous and secured access to critical data is a need for the smooth and profitable operation of most businesses. Loss of thousands of dollars can result from the loss of any data. Recovery of the lost data can sometimes happen and can take up huge working hours. Therefore, data protection and data backup are of key importance.

Data Backup

In the dictionary of information technology, copying of data is referred to as data backup. If the original data is lost, these additional copies of data are used for restoration of the lost data. Data backup usually refers to these additional copies. The purpose of traditional backup is two-dimensional. Restoration of a state after a disaster is the primary purpose of data backup. The secondary purpose of data backup is restoration of files in small numbers following their accidental deletion or corruption. Data backup is the ultimate means of defense against the loss of data. It is in brief, the process of data protection.

(3 votes)
With the turn of century, the world is witnessing a ‘shift of paradigm’ from information society to knowledge society. Data, information and knowledge have become the pillars of development and progress of the society. Computer technology has been instrumental in processing of data and information and creation of knowledge in the making of 21st century. Business, intelligence and technology have received the fillip with advanced information systems and intelligent knowledge. The new channels of knowledge sharing have given rise to human and information networks.

The advanced computers today are even capable of making human intervention. These machines are designed to accept data as input, process data and generate decisions and actions accordingly. If a human brain performs the same task, we consider his/her intelligence, knowledge and expertise as the key. For some people computers are devices, which have been designed to process knowledge.

The Importance of Recovering Data After Logical Damage
(2 votes)

What is “data recovery”?

The entire process of recovering lost data from some damaged secondary storage media is termed as data recovery. The salvaging of the many important data is done when the secondary storage device fails to function normally. In such cases, the data are retrieved from several electronic storage devices such as the CDs, DVDs, many hard disk drives, storage tapes and various other storage formats. The disk damage can be of two major kinds, viz. the physical damage to the storage device or the logical damage of the files stored. The recovering of lost data therefore includes both the physical damage recovery as well as the logical damage recovery. The recovery process also involves the salvaging and securing of some deleted stuffs from the storage disk or device.

How Error Detection and Correction is Done
(3 votes)
In order to maintain data integrity in unreliable storage media, error detection and correction becomes an important tool. Error detection generally refers to the ability to search out errors that occur during transmission of information from the transmitter to the receiver. After the errors are sorted out reconstruction of the original, unflawed data becomes possible. Data error detection for channel code and error correcting system protocol follows two principles:

Things You Must Know About Hard Drive Recovery After Physical Damage
(1 vote)
The process of recovering lost data from a corrupted, inaccessible, failed or damaged secondary storage media is referred to as data recovery. The purpose of data recovery is to recover the damaged or lost data by accessing the damaged or failed storage media. The data are often salvaged from such storage media formats as storage tapes, hard disk drives, RAID, DVDs, CDs and many other electronics by means of several recovering techniques in the process of data recovery. Data recovery includes recovery of the storage device from physical damage and recovery of the file system from logical damage to the data. Data recovery also refers to the process of retrieving as well as securing the information deleted from a storage media. The use of data recovery in this case is for spying or forensic purposes. Multiple recovering techniques have technically been developed and advanced for hard drive recovery, recovering lost data and repair of hard disk crash.
